Just read an excellent blog article by Jonathan Fields, author of Career Renegade, about the realities of following your passion and becoming an entrepreneur.
Jonathan says that "if you ask an aspiring entrepreneur why they'd kill to make the jump," (from whatever they are doing now to being an entrepreneur) that "without fail, four of the top 5 reasons will be:
> Freedom
> Control
> Money
> Passion
They dream of working their own hours, not having to report to “the Man,” skipping through fields of money, loving what they do every moment of every day and changing the world. All great aspirations."
(I'll just say here that his observation is definitely true for me as well as for the many aspiring entrepreneurs that I've met over the course of my journey!)
What makes this article so valuable is that he goes on to say:
"Question is - How much is real, and how much is outright fantasy?"
Jonathan then dives deeper into each of these four fundamental motivations with the intent to "bust a few myths and open a few eyes" which I believe he did very successfully.
If you are committed to following your passion and creating a thriving business that makes a difference in the world, knowing what the path looks like on each of these fronts will be invaluable to you (I wish I'd known them earlier, I can tell you that!!) :D
